Easier on the pocketbook than the other two vets I have visited in Austin. The Dr. was very thorough, and offered lots of advice on my old lumpy/grumpy dog. I like being able to schedule on line, and multiple locations.

We attempted to euthanize our poor dog who was suffering from several severe behavioral issues but were denied assistance from our vet of 4 years. As this decision didn't come lightly, we knew that if our dog wasn't out to rest, she would live a miserable life of being muzzled and medicated for the rest of her life. We brought our dog here for wellness visits and shots- usually about $300 each visit. Each visit she was seen about 20 minutes after her appointment time, and the visits are very rushed. Even after telling them I just need the prescription for heart worm medication, they still charged us for it. We were in-between vets and needed to get our four-year old Husky's yearly vaccinations and testing done. This is a comprehensive set of services which includes, despite our pup being continuously on preventives, a standard heart worm test to rule to out a breakthrough infection. Because of problems in previous vet settings we've always opted to be present for procedures during our dog's service. Thrive is the Spirit Airlines of the vet world. It starts out cheap, they upsell you until it's more expensive than the alternative, and they provide terrible service. Took 2of 3 of our dogs here. The first one they treated - after running up the bill for a regular checkup it cost me $503. The second they couldn't treat because she did not want to go to the back to get her shots without us. We switched vet offices to here from Manchaca Village because Thrive is way less and my cat was traumatized and scared of Manchaca's new vet. He went into Thrive for a checkup, vaccines and dental exam. My cat inherited bad teeth and I knew he had tartar and never had a teeth cleaning before. He also had a cyst on his lip. So I was given a quote for a teeth cleaning with X-rays and addressing the cyst and it was a 1/3 less than I'd found at the old vet and half of what I was getting quotes from at another place. Called to find out about the free wellness exam offer and see if it could include estimate for a dental exam. They asked if we have any concerns "like bad breath" I said "sure his breath is getting bad" (part of the reason to get a teeth cleaning) the representative said it would be $59 because there was a "concern" Bad breath. A dog. It would be free but since I said "yes his breathe is getting bad" it's a concerned visit. That seems like a textbook bait and switch. Took our dog to the vet. They tried to force us to give our dog a rabies shot because she had already been bitten by another dog. Our dog was vaccinated. The purple-haired technician was so timid and standoffish that she would not even touch our dog and made us put a muzzle on him. This was so surprising. Don't be a vet if you hate animals. We have a loving chocolate lab that has never bitten anyone. Go somewhere else or maybe just wait for this "person" to get fired.

We woke up to a very sick 2.5 year old boy cat. We had used Thrive Pet Care for his check ups since he was a kitten. So we called into them for help (which ended up to be a Call Center). We were asked 5 minutes of questions only to be told that there were no appointments. We ended up at an emergency vet and found that had we waited one more day our boy would have had a burst bladder and died. DO NOT USE THRIVE PET CARE.
