We’ve been going to Trattoria Del Arte for many years. Sadly, it’s barely a figment of it’s former self. The is not good and the prices are sky high.
Order was messed up Food was terrible Place seems to be falling apart. Dated and needs a renovation
Terrible. Service was awful. There was an actual nail in the food (!), with the waiter behaving in a very nonchalant and slightly arrogant way. Without the nail, food was only passable.
Absolutely the worst service we have ever experienced in a restaurant (in the US or even overseas). We were seated, then couldn't get the attention of any of the staff. Finally got water and ordered wine. Waiter had no idea about wines on wine list, but didn't offer to send someone over who did. Food was good, but they disregarded ( or forgot) my special requests which made the evening embarrassing for us as hosts. Would not go there again for a special occasion.
The restaurant was extremely noisey and the food nothing special. The wine that the server suggested was not good.
Unfortunately, we did not receive excellent service. We were seated a table that was difficult for the staff to wait on because they would have to walk around the whole space to get to the other side of the table. We arrived at the start of lunch hour but our order was not taken until the room had reached a peak level of patrons which put our food orders behind all of the patrons that arrived after us. I've been hearing how wonderful this place is for years, so I was looking forward to my first visit. It will be my only and last visit as well. The food was awful, heavily salted and otherwise mealy and tasteless. The exception was the lobster carbonara, which was creamy and good, except for the tooth-breaker small chunks of shells mixed in with the meat. The service was just bad. Ehh. Bland. Basic. Nothing to write home about. Definitely a million better Italian restaurants in NYC to choose from. My carbonara was so incredibly dull and tasteless. Everyone else's food was just passable.
