Terrible waiter
Horrible..we left after waiting 20 min for a waiter to come over..host was busy being buddies with everyone else (repeat customers I guess) will never return to this mediocre at best restaurant
Across the street from Carnegie Hall so had a great experience last year- the host greeted us as if we were old friends and the service upstairs was excellent..they got us out for the show without rushing. So we took friends for a 2nd visit this week as we had tickets for Carnegie Hall on a Saturday nite. BIG mistake. Incredibly crowded, 20 minutes wait for waiter to get to the table, the noise level (first floor) was off the chart- very difficult to talk, and very expensive $26 for an ok personal pizza and $16 for a dessert... read more
Either the reservations were mismanaged or they were incredibly understaffed... which is unfathomable being that it was Valentine's Day. The table next to us arrived after we ordered, and yet the ordered, received their food and left before we even saw our food. I would have ordered more drinks, but no one ever came to take the order. Host was off in a trance somewhere and I had to give him my name THREE times. At the table where I was seated I was regularly bumped by waiters - and one waiter who even tried to squeeze a chair between me and the adjacent table. No apologies or “excuse me” at all. Not even once! If this had been my first visit it would also have been my last. Not at all what I have come to expect from this restaurant.
We tried this place on the recommendation of a business associate. I’m going to hate having to tell him the place was a bust. Never going to go back. The food was good but not spectacular. The rest of place needs an operational and attitude reset except for our server(Sage) and the woman checking the coats. We arrived 10 minutes early for a 7PM reservation. I have been coming to this resto for years afer Carnegie Hall. The food was horrible! over cooked, reheated and we could not eat it. Too many people I guess before we got there after the show.
This has been our favorite restaurant in NYC for over 20 years. This visit everything was off. Terrible table in main room, awful service and just an overall disappointment. I hope this was a one time event and not a trend.
I'm not a NYC resident but get to travel to the city periodically for work. When I'm there I always like to make time for Trattoria Dell'Arte. It's always been a favorite of mine and always a good experience. Except for my most recent visit on Saturday, Jan. 27.
