We dine here frequently, but last night was so bad, I cannot imagine returning anytime soon or ever for that matter. Warning, NEVER sit upstairs. Wait for a table on the main floor. You are forgotten on the 2nd floor and not only the servers their b group, but they have a long hike to the Kitchen. Waited for bread for 20 minutes, no knives when the food came. By the time the knives came, the Food had become room temperature. This is not an inexpensive restaurant and it is unacceptable to have such poor service. I am aware th... read more
We had a very disappointing experience at the restaurant. We dined there on Christmas Day, and it was clear from the moment we walked in that restaurant was totally unprepared to deal with the number of reservations it had booked.
-Good food doesn't make up for poor treatment Came here on Christmas Eve with a reservation. There was a queue of about 8 people waiting. "Dottore" as he was greeted by the maitre'd bypassed the line and was seated immediately while us commoners waited. Then the maitre'd asked who had reservations and ushered us to the basement, away from the lively bustling atmosphere. We were seated in a overflow room next to the bathrooms with small tables close together. There was only one couple seated down there. The room was quiet wit... read more
Busy Wednesday night pretheatre. Had reservation and placed by front window cold and tight spacing. Found the food to be disappointing and overpriced. For example a thirty dollar plate of pasta with white clam sauce had two clam shells and one clam, was over cooked and was over spiced. The staff was agreeable. While the location worked on a very cold night providing proximity to Carnegie Hall I would be hard pressed to recommend. This might work for folks from out of town who have limited dining options but does not distingu... read more
We were seated by the serving station. The host did not seem to care about any customers who were not regulars. This is a very expensive restaurant and better effort by the host is expected.
pasting my husband's review from yelp, as we had the same experience on 12.24.2017: My wife made a reservation three weeks in advance for dinner on Christmas Eve. Despite that we were stuck with a table, on the second floor, literally by the staircase. Scores of people passed by us on the way to their tables, which was distracting. Honestly, though, I'm not really going to complain about that, because had that been my only issue it wouldn't have mattered. I ordered the "bowl of meatballs," and Chicken Cutlet Pepperoni Parm. ... read more
This was my 3rd Christmas at the restaurant, and my last. The portions were smaller than ever and the service was terrible.
I booked this restaurant as our anniversary dinner 3 Days before we came to New York with high expectations. Much like many of the reviews I had read in advance, the restaurant was crowded and the service suffered because of a shortage of staff. Though we had reservations, we were seated next to a dirty dish collection station. We asked to be reseated, and were seated against a wall next to a busy corridor with waitstaff constantly passing by. No tablecloth, no candles, nothing decorative, nothing special about the ambience.... read more
Food was really blah - chicken parm had barely on sauce, and please don't bother with the pizza. Front of the restaurant feels/looks like a crowded diner; the atmosphere in the rest is confusing, with table cloths on some tables but not others. Service was uneven -- a server spilled ice water on my lap, but our fabulous waiter saved the evening. Nonetheless, should have gone somewhere else.
