It was too crowded, too noisy and they gave us a lousy table. On the other hand, the staff is very nice and friendly. They tried their best. Just don't go pre-theater because you're likely to be unhappy.
This faux trattoria served me the worst pappardelle dish I have ever had. The thick, undercooked noodles had clearly been sitting in the bottom of the pot for a long time. They were clotted together, could neither be separated nor picked up with a fork. The tomato sauce was thick, without any evidence of careful seasoning and the last times the tomatoes had seen daylight was in a factory farm before they were canned. The seafood was incredibly overcooked, the fish unrecognizable, the four small shrimp as hard as a shoe heel.... read more
This has to be one of the finest restaurants for people who love the Arts and like to hang out in or near Carnegie Hall. The food is always good, though I notice portions are getting skimpier. It is a tad bit expensive. I can't get out of there for less than $55 and I don't drink alcohol or eat dessert.
have been visiting this spot for 20+ yrs. never had such poor food. over priced now. $30 for a pizza- really? their best anti pasti dish is no longer there. my last visit.
The service was bad for us. The food left more to be desired. We weren't happy and should have left.
During our stay in NYC, this was our least favorite restaurant. There was nothing special about this restaurant at all. Sorry, but if you're looking for a nice or special restaurant, I would keep looking.
I try this restaurant from time to time because it is so convenient to Carnegie Hall. But it always disappoints- crowded and noisy. The food is ok, except my salad was very small and featured an old discolored hunk of lettuce. I showed it to the waiter and his only reaction was to remove it from the plate. Just getting out the door to leave is a trial. Not going back.
Great location near Carnigie Hall Arrive 530p, seating was prompt Waiter was surly and added nothing to the experience Filet Mignon was ordered medium well , but arrive very over cooked Ravioli and Chicken Melanese were very good, generous portions Waited over an hour for food. Waiter and manager apologized Had to skip dessert, barely made 8 p show Not worth the money
We've eaten here for years. Every time we go, it goes further downhill. Way overpriced, and now the food has become mediocre - and, horrors, it's become primarily a tourist destination. Really feels it, more and more. We think this last time was our last time. Same thing happened to its sister restaurant, Fiorello's.
