We've eaten here for years. Every time we go, it goes further downhill. Way overpriced, and now the food has become mediocre - and, horrors, it's become primarily a tourist destination. Really feels it, more and more. We think this last time was our last time. Same thing happened to its sister restaurant, Fiorello's.
We went to Trattoria Dell'Arte because prior experience was excellent. Not so this time. There were 4 of us, and we all agreed that the food was mediocre at best. We were also rushed - the dinners came immediately after the appetizers. I won't recommend the restaurant any more and we're not going back.
Service was not good. Watch out for the "free" birthday dessert. It cost $16. Also the sparkler on it burned my finger and no one seemed concerned about it. Food was expensive but decent.
Service was rushed and all entrees had been re heated. I would not go back.
May be attributable to being across the street from Carnegie Hall on Saturday night, but restaurant was impossibly noisy and crowded. Service was slow and food was marginal. Would not recommend.
I was not happy with the fact that after giving my Credit Card for payment and when I received it back with the detailed bill I found out that I was charged two bottle of wines, when we in fact I had ordered and consumed just one. It does not look that this is an honest mistake. It gives the impression that because we were a group of 8 people a $ 79 bottle of wine added to the bill would go unoticed. I think a better attention and control can avoid this unfortunate situation.
Previous visits to this restaurant have been enjoyable. This one was very disappointing. My husband and I each had the Seafood Pappardelle. Both dishes was unevenly heated. The noodles were totally hardened and congealed. Almost not edible! We did not mention anything to each other or to the waiter. We were engrossed in conversation with our friends. This may just have been an off night for the restaurant, but I do not think I would return. Ruth
Friendly fast service fine food and financially fair. A fortunate find.
slow but courteous waiter
