Interesting menu, friendly and attentive service, excellent food.
Expensive and Mediocre. Perfect for unknowing tourists that meander aroun Central Park south
$5 for "filtered" tap water? No! A slab of chicken smothered with low quality tomato sauce and pepperoni masquerading as chicken parmagiana? No! A waiter who responded "lovely" to everything I said? No! A $100 tab for aforementioned chicken, salad , thin crust pizza, a cocktail and a Shirley temple? No! But, yes, all Of this is true and we won't be going back.
The food was tasteless. I had to add salt which is something I never ever do. The pastas on the menu were unimaginative, boring, awful. This is a shame because for years we have always gone there when we visit NYC, but now, what happened? The salad had too much dressing which was too sour. The Pino Grigio house wine was like bad water.
We have visited this restaurant before and it was really good. However, our recent visit turned out to be a disappointment. While the service was still really great and the atmosphere energetic, the food was very lackluster and overly salty. We got two scrawny soft shell crabs as appetizer for a whopping $42. We had reservations at this restaurant Saturday,June 4. When I ordered my entree I asked our server which red snapper dish was better,which sauce. The menu stated one was baked and she said all the fish is. She preferred the entree with the artichoke "hash" I believe it was called. I'm an artichoke fan so ordered that dish. Ordered their thin crust pizza, Caesar salad and a $100 bottle of wine. Food was delivered in a reasonable period of time. No pepper on table, was not offered pepper for salad, did not return anytime to check on needs unless it was to deliver food or unless called for. Salad had very little dressing, pizza was tasteless. This was my second visit. The first had been great all around. This time was mediocre mainly due to the braised rib dish being bland and not special. Also, the service was somewhat inattentive and the restaurant was not busy when we were there. We had to ask for water 3 times and ask for sweetener for our coffee. I will not be returning a third time.
Service was awful, salmon dry/ tasteless, prices outrageous($17 for a glass of wine), and place was loud. We had to request bread from busboy- delivered without butter or oil. The waiter never came back to get us a second drink. It was a total disaster and disappointment for a special night in the city. Do not go there.
