I've been to Trattoria Dell'Arte many time and have always had a wonderful experience, but this time I was thoroughly disappointed. The restaurant seemed in a bit of chaos and regulars definitely rules the roost, even though I had reservation. When it came to ordering, (3) of the food items my party chose, we were told "were no longer on the menu" and 2 of the items, were why I went back to the restaurant. The dishes we did order, were good, but not what I went to the restaurant for. One of my friends, who was dining with me... read more

Thought this was excellent 3 or 4 years ago when I visited the city, couldn't wait to return with my hubby. The service was awful, and the food was barely warm.

Service was very disappointing! Slow to be acknowledged. 2 in the party ordered cocktails, the other 2 wine. The cocktails and wine arrived AFTER the food was served. An individual without a reservation or their entire party present were seated ahead of us at a nice table, while we were put at a less desirable table after having this reservation for months! This used to be a desirable spot- no more!

Very disappointed in the quality of the food at this restaurant. I have been several times before. This will be my last visit. It rests on its past laurels. My main course of veal marsala was like eating shoe leather. I pushed it aside. Such a shame.

10-15 years ago we looked forward to eating here when headed to Carnegie Hall and to its sister restaurant Cafe Fiorello when going to Lincoln Center. Both are now overpriced and frustratingly inconsistent. Some of the food is excellent; some is mediocre - not just good, but barely passable. The portions are smaller. Dishes aren't made with the same attention to detail as in the past - e.g., no longer are there shavings of lemon preserve on the lemon tart. While I suspect we will occasionally return to see if things have imp... read more

I wrote in the reservation I had two birthdays and wanted an easily accessible table because my 90 year old grandmother would be there. They first tried giving us a table up two full flights of stairs. Then I reminded the Host about the birthdays but nothing was every done despite us seeing birthday celebrations happening all around us.

After reading all of the positive reviews here, I decided to make reservations for myself and 2 friends. We had an 8:15 reservation and arrived promptly at 8:15--instead of being seated, the person at the host stand hand wrote our names down in a first come, first served fashion (meaning the pushy woman who cut us off in line was sat first). There was no organization to the check in process, people were all over the place, and blocking restaurant staff from delivering food, etc. We were not seated until 9....once seated, our... read more

Tiny portions, and everything cooked with complete indifference. The house special Roman Artichokes were overcooked to the point of shoe leather. The veggie antipasto trio came with the wrong items on it, and tiny, tiny portions. The Scallop entree was tasty, but it was three small scallops for $37. The food is ordinary (or worse), the prices are high and the kitchen is a mess. With all the dining options in the neighborhood, don't waste your time here.
