We went for Valentine's Day after having attended a function at the restaurant 10 days earlier and having been impressed with the wood oven pizza and horS d'oeuvres . We were disappointed on all counts when eating there. The service was terrible - impossible to get any attention. The food was mediocre at best. The lasagne was tasteless. The seafood salad had little seafood but was loaded with cheap-tasting shredded cheese. From a 1 to 10, this was a 2. Probably the best thing (and perhaps least expensive) entree to order at ... read more

Remember the movie "The Bight Night"? Two brothers immigrate from Italy to New York to start a restaurant - one brother is the artist, the other the business man. They fail because New York of the 1950's is not yet ready for exquisite and refined Italian cooking. In one scene they portray and poopoo a successful restaurant with flaming dishes and lots of happy customers. Trattoria Dell'Arte made me think of that successful restaurant. Trattoria Dell'Arte does have decent food and large portions. If that is what you are after... read more

We were in NYC for the weekend to celebrate a good friend's birthday. The service was terrible--appetizers came with the entrees, were cold and not what we ordered. Entrees were also cold. Orders were completely mixed up. I would not return.

Left after starters. Pretty unimpressed with the quality of food that came out. Nothing was special. Vegetables were severely overcooked. At twenty two bucks for a plat with three vegetables on it as a starter, this really should be nailed better. Salad was just ok too. As lackluster as these were, we canceled our mains and went elsewhere.

We live just around the corner from the Trattoria dell'Arte, and after trying (and definitely not liking) it when we first moved here several years ago, we figured we would try it again because of the great reviews we kept noticing on OpenTable... Well, after giving it another shot, I have to say that I still don't get it... The food was still only just barely ok (bland, thrown on the plates) and both the food and wines were still massively overpriced. In a city where the standards are this high and in a neighborhood where y... read more

A friend highly recommended Trattoria Dell'Arte to me, so I took a friend there for dinner. While the food and wine were very good, I'm disappointed to say that the service from our waiter was so poor that it canceled out the fine food and beautiful atmosphere of the restaurant. Our waiter would physically walk away from our table in the middle of taking our orders, and he told us upfront that we weren't his priority table since a very large party was dining nearby. He was also absent for most of the evening and seemed gener... read more

Expected a quality Italian menu and quality food. Received neither one for the price. Service was slow and unfriendly.

It suffices to say that the chef and other staff should simply spend time in Italy to appreciate what the real Italian cuisine is all about: very high quality prime materials, simple preparations and not to add ingredients that do not belong to the true Italian recipes. For the specialty dish carciofi alla giudea it would be necessary to spend time in Rome, for pesto to go to Genova ecc. We spend many years living in Italy to be very disappointed by this restaurant experience in NYC.

I went here many years ago and it was a high end place to eat. Went on Christmas Eve and it felt like it was a Disney restaurant with terrible service and mediocre food....sad
