Friday night reservation at 7.30. Figured that the pre-theatre crowd would be gone at this point. The tables around us were exceedingly loud and the wait staff seemed to engage in the noise with them being equally loud. Recognize it's mid-town and close to Times Square, but who raised these people (the diners)? A party was seated after us. Took in the noise, got up and left. Food is just horrible. Skip. Next.
Had seen great reviews and restaurant highly recommended by hotel. Very busy as expected on a Friday night. While we were seated promptly, had to wait quite a bit for the waiter. Ordered bottle of wine with main entree. food was served within 5 minutes with bottle of wine unopened. very disappointing.
used to be a classic but it has aged poorly. menu feels dated, service lumpy, decor seems dated as well.
Food was very good. Service, ambiance, crowding, and noice level resulted in not returning.
I have been dining here whenever I've visited NY for the past 7 plus years. I did not feel the service, nor food was very good. They were out of Osso Bucco at 8pm and my veal piccata was very average. Our server was always in a hurry and inattentive. I do not plan to return. There are way too many choices in the big apple!
Trattoria Del Arte has been a favorite midtown spot for a dozen or more years. So disappointed that those days are over. From the young amateur waitress service, to the overcooked shank and gummy risotto, to the table by the bus service in a half empty restaurant, this was the worst experience at this landmark, that I have ever experienced. We have dined here several times before, and many times at their sister restaurant, Trattoria Fiorella. That said, we have always had good experiences. This visit was not up to their standards. We were on time for our 6:15 reservation, but it was hectic and there was a wait. Explained to the maitre'd we had a 8:00 curtain, he said no problem. We were a party of 5; and despite 3 of us being well over 6' tall we were shown to a table on the second floor in the corner with a ceiling so low that you had to bend over to get into ... read more
Service was excellent....almost too excellent...we had an early reservation, and probably a not too busy kitchen, but it was literally five minutes between ordering and food was there...I guess I was expected a more leisurely pace to the meal ... portions are very generous...I ordered the Chicken Parmesean and there was enough food to feed three people....
