Over the years, I had been to this restaurant and always found it good. This time I thought something changed. I didn't even eat my meal because it wasn't very good. It is very hard to have a conversation because it is noisy. On top of that it is expensive for a mediocre meal.
Food was average to subpar. Service was rushed. Very typical touristy restaurant. For $100 per person find somewhere else.
When I made the reservation I explained that I would be with an elderly friend and requested a quiet table that could be accessed with no stairs . When I arrived my friend had been shown to a small noisy table that was up two sets of stairs in the back of the restaurant - and when I complained we were moved to one of several empty booths that were more comfortable. Waitstaff was friendly and efficient, but the food was served warm, not hot, and was pretty indifferent and mediocre considering the high prices. Decor is dated I... read more
Our party of 4 ordered one extra round of Bloody Marys with our brunch this past Sunday. Each meal comes with a complimentary one (or a Mimosa) Imagine our shock when the bill came and we discovered they had charged $16 per drink for a whopping extra $ 64 to the bill!! How ridiculous and how unfair! They should be ashamed!!
Bustling place. Nice touches of chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's Day. Delicious antipasto but overpriced for the portion size.
The restaurant was crowded however: despite the window table, the heater was exactly on top of my head, very unconfortable; the plate was served 5 minutes after order, it seemed it was already waiting for us and the food was cold; the price was expensive. The positive sides were the location and the service but I would not recommend the restaunt to a friend.
Up scale as they might want to appear, Trattoria's booking of a large family party (30?) in the middle of their common room ruined the evening. Not a quiet space to begin with, incessant rattles, crying and kids out of their chairs competing with the staff for serving aisles made a mockery of this NYC "power" eatery. The food was ok, but one couldn't concentrate on it, or one's dinner partner, for the circus that was going on directly behind. Unfortunate all around, as this was to be our "expensive meal" (and was it ever) in... read more
My wife and I visited this restaurant for dinner during our recent trip to NYC. I ordered a soup (which came out lukewarm) and an entree (which was very good). My wife ordered a salad (which was good) and a vegetable plate that came out refrigerator cold. She sent it back for warming to room temperature, but even then some of the vegetables were tough (to be fair, we were not charged for the platter she did not eat). The waitress and the maitre'd were both very attentive. Hence the high rating for service.
As a New Yorker this was a restaurant I often went to after shows. One time even rented a room for a party. Had not been there in last two years.. Went last week in Dec 2014. Food quality had dropped dramatically . Also seemed like major tourist destination rather than the locals that used to go. Previously recommended this restauarant.....................would no longer recommend and will not return
