Avoid this place at all costs. My 77yr old mother was patient here after surgery. Not only did she go uncared for (read the reviews below, all true) but when she was admitted to emergency when her recovery took a turn for the worse they NEVER REACHED OUT TO LET ANYONE KNOW. My mother died in the hospital two days later. I cannot say enough terrible things about this place. No updates from doctors, no real PT routine, and when you call them, you get the run around. This place is the worst for your loved ones. Patients go unchanged & have to lay in their own urine for hrs. If they can't feed themselves they don't eat. I was here do to Covid. One night I didn't get my meds & the next night I got double. Blood pressure went dangerously low! I will be turning this nightmare into the state!

We had the most horrible experience at Vasona Creek. We took my mother in law there after a fall at home left her unable to stand or walk. Ring the call bell for bed pan assistance......wait 15 minutes then go ask someone to come...another 15 mins and if lucky we'd get help. First night there she tried to get up and fell again, after a trip to the ER we came back and the staff acted like nothing happened and just put her back in her room with no conversation about what happened and how it would be prevented. On 7/2/2022 around 11:00 AM, my family arrived at Vasona Creek Healthcare Center, after a 2 hour drive from our home in the Sacramento area, to discuss with my wife's grandmother, who is very hard of hearing, about her wishes for ongoing care and the various options we researched for when she is discharged in a few days. The orderlies, physical and occupational therapists, and nursing aides are great--truly caring and diligent. However, the nursing staff (the people in charge on any given shift) are terrible, vindictive, and incompetent. No one communicates to anyone else. None of them write anything down. They actively ignore call buttons (for hours). They don't follow doctor's orders (instead, they lose them and claim they don't exist), leave patients without their medication, in pain, and in danger. It's difficult choosing a SNF for yourself or a loved one. If you are weak, unable to move on your own, unable to speak or feed yourself due to medical issues (ex. stroke) or age, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU! We chose Vasona for our father. Leaving him in the evening after visiting hours were hard because we worried if he'd be well taken care of through the night and be fine the next morning. Our biggest fear came true one morning. The nurses are caring--for the most part; the CNAs are the backbone and overworked; the PTs and OTs are outstanding; the maintenance staff is efficient; Kaiser liaisons professional and responsive. For all these folks--definitely 5 Stars!!! But everyone else from registration to discharge act like they have somewhere else to be and you're an inconvenience...especially if you start asking questions. This actually is 0 stars.This is the worst place ever! My mom broke her hip on Jan. 6 and I chose this place thinking it would be the best for her. So for two months no one had ever called me to let me know her progress. They missed three post op appts and then finally they took her, dropped her off in a wheelchair with a packet of papers. She has dementia and when the Dr. asked her questions she had no clue. That was the last straw! This place is a joke no one knows what's going on here. its sad to see I would not bring my loved one here . The nurses and staff dont communicate with each other.beware!! I wish it was different but it's not. We are getting out of this place.
