As a breast cancer survivor it is important to keep up to date on my mammograms. For the second time in 3 months the front desk staff in Merrifield has made scheduling errors that have resulted in not being able to receive the scans I need. Now I must wait again until May to get an appointment. I have scheduled that at Fairfax Radiology and am hoping to have a better experience with them. I have been coming here for many years. I'm usually in and out, even during COVID. I'm here today for a bone scan and they seem to be extremely behind. I am disappointed with the rudeness of the front desk staff. They are unapologetic and uncaring of our time.

First, when I arrived on time, I was told it would be an hour wait. Then the person who did my annual 3-D mammogram kept taking extra X-rays, until she made me wait to have another person come in to tell me I would need even more since the x-rays taken were not sufficiently done. I am 67 and have a breast cancer history, so I refused to be further exposed to more x-rays in the office where they were willing to hire an inexperienced technician to expose me to unnecessary amount of harmful electromagnetic waves. This is a complaint about the back office. There is a new billing company, Change, who will not speak to customers about billing issues. They and WR will waste your time with pleasant and useless clerks who have no authority to do anything. According to the last clerk, a supervisor might (might?) call me back but it will be a while since there are many disputes outstanding. I have gone to Washington Radiology for over 20 years. I have always received excellent care until this last visit. I checked in and was kept waiting 15 minutes after my appointment time. I sat in a dressing room for 20 minutes and finally flagged down an assistant who said they would check but never returned. I finally had a technician help me, and she was wonderful. I had an appointment for an MRI of two segments of my back. 3 days before the scheduling, they called to indicate a problem. Apparently,the appointment assistant misentered the info and entered only one body part location and not the other. They wanted me to make another appointment to do the second one. I asked why I couldn't have both done at the same time. they explained more time would be needed to one after the other and that would back up the next patient. The actually process was fine, tech was very friendly and nice. But I took my CT scan on 5/31 neither my doctor or I ever received the results I was told the results should be available in 24 hours. I called a week later, I was told by a women they were short staffed and behind. She told me if I didn't see anything in a few days to check back. Booked MRI here because the cost was less than some other places. I got not 1, but 2 reminders for my balance due at the appointment. After the MRI I got a bill for $230 more than the quote I was given not once, but twice. I tried to call billing and they would not help, and even went as far as to say "We cannot honor this estimate". They say that they get the number from insurance, but insurance does not give out estimates, so that was a lie. I asked to speak to manager. Visited Washington Radiology Fairfax today around noon for a chest X-Ray. Did not make an appointment because the answering message and website information noted that general X-Ray is just walk-in. I got there and the receptionist said no walk-in and wanted to make an appointment for next day. False advertising! Walked out and went to INOVA Imaging. Got it done in one hour.
