I can't speak highly enough of the staff at WRA. I had a biopsy there and, frankly, was scared as $hit. The nurses were great: kind, caring, professional. They did everything they could to make me feel comfortable. I left the country a day later, and the nurse, Mary M, stayed in touch so I could get my results via email, and when I had a change in insurance that put my coverage in jeopardy, their business manager, Robert M, worked with me, also via email, to make sure everything would be fine. My only complaint is the wait time. Normally I understand that doctor appointments aren't on time... but when you come to a test with a bladder that's bursting and they want you to wait over a half hour without updates of how and when, even when you get put in a smaller waiting room, life is miserable and you can't think of anything else except how badly you're trying not to urinate yourself. i've had a WRA feel your boobies (self breast exam) monthly diagram & reminder thing hanging in my shower for a couple years now (hey, best to have the reminder & diagram where you'll most often be naked, right?), but this is the first time i've had occasion to visit one of their offices. and it wasn't for teh boobies - go figure. i have to say, considering it was a most miserable morning of driving from MD to VA in the regular hell that is the DMV traffic, made worse by rain and THE rush hour peak, the appointment was rat... read more
Literal incompetency around every corner, filthy offices, long wait times, impossible to reach anyone when you need to, ridiculous hold times, difficult to impossible to schedule an appointment, makes healthcare a nightmare-- hate WRA!

I had an 8am DEXA appt. at the Fairfax office today. After receiving 4 confirmation emails, with the last 2 requiring my confirmed response, I drove in icy conditions to arrive at 7:45. 10 minutes later, I asked the desk employee named Joyce if I needed to fill out paperwork for the DEXA. Her response, verbatim: "We don't do DEXAs in the morning." Wait...is it my fault when WR confirmed the appt 4 times, including just yesterday? Her excuses were: 1. I called and verified that your company was within my preferred provider network and I was assured over the phone that you were, so I scheduled my simple ultrasound appointment. (MY first mistake as there are numerous radiology groups with similar sounding names.) I received the bill many months later to discover you were in fact NOT in network. I was planning to transition to Washington Radiology from Fairfax radiology because I moved. However, transferring records has been terrible. No one will answer the phone and I've sent multiple emails with no response. I guess they don't want my business. I will be staying with Fairfax Radiology.
While the radiologists and techs are great, the front desk staff are poorly trained with zero bedside manner. They tried to send me home for a follow up mammogram I had waited 3 weeks for because they had requested a doctors order from the wrong doctor and failed to call me to tell me they didn't have the order they needed for the test. When I showed up early Monday morning for my 7:45M appt the girl (she was not mature enough to be called a woman) told me they might not see me because they had to wait to call my doctors off... read more
