How to write a review on Google

Google Maps lets you write reviews for places you’ve visited. Keep in mind, all reviews you post on Google Maps are visible to the public, and you cannot post anonymously.

When you’re signed into Google, open Google Maps. Search for a place you want to review. You’ll then see the contact information, photos, and reviews this business has, along with a button that says “Write a review”. Click this and a window will open where you can write your review.

You can also tell Google helpful information about a place, like what the atmosphere is like or if it’s a good place for large groups.

When you post your Google review, other people will be able to see the following information about you:

  • Your name as it appears on your About me page

  • Other reviews you’ve written on Google Maps

  • Photos you’ve contributed to Google Maps

Get rewards for writing Google reviews

Google has a Local Guides community for people who like adding place information or writing reviews. When you join the Local Guides community, you can earn points and even get a special badge that will appear next to your reviews.

Important: Google has a zero tolerance policy for fake reviews, and reserves the right to remove any review that it deems fake or that violates its user content and conduct policies.
