I went to Smile Direct Club to purchase aligners and a salesperson told me about the process. I asked to create an account. I asked how the braces cost. She said the cost was $3000+ if I wanted to go on the payment plan, the other price was $2,700 if I paid the full amount. We have had a good experience. My child’s dentist recommended orthodontics, after a bad experience at a local orthodontist we tried smile direct club. The dentist was impressed, my daughters teeth look great! She likes that she only has to wear the aligners at night and it still works. Great experience.
I purchased my aligners after finding mostly good reviews online. I’ve only just started my second pair of aligners, but I saw an article about how SDC made unsatisfied customers sign nda’s so negative reviews wouldn’t come out. I read a ton of negative reviews and decided to cancel. I reached out to the “dental team” to talk to my actual assigned dentist and they wouldn’t let me, just kept saying they were the liaison between me and my dentist. This Company is the absolute worst. 1. This company said that they bill FSA/HSA account for the monthly payment. They didn't bill my FSA account even though I supplied them all the necessary information. 2. They didn't communicate that they h1adn't billed the FSA until a year later and they had sent it a collection agency, ********. I have reached out to this business several times in the past two months to cancel and get a refund the last x-ray that was taken, I asked to see the pictures and found out that their scanner has been inaccurately, scanning my teeth, which inturn has made it impossible to get the results that I want. I do not recommend smile direct, I was told by an employee at smile, direct to get one of my teeth filed off to the side in order for the aligners to fit. I had to provide a credit card to book a free appt. I then canceled the appt and asked for and received an email stating I was not being charged. I get no less than 4 emails a day from this company even though I have hit "Unsubscribe" every day this week. I was able to opt out of the many texts, but I am still being harassed via email. I was curious, but their stalking tactics are quite intimidating. I now look at my credit card daily to make sure they are not charging me. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I wore their aligners for around 3 months and they literally did nothing for my teeth I cancelled my subscription and they still had the audacity to charge me $2400 for a product that didn't work. $2400 for what? Some meaningless plastic bits, no offer to refund or cancel future payments or anything. I've already emailed their little help email they will link here to pretend they helped it is all PR and they did nothing.
Do not recommend, these are terrible. Fitment is trash, they don’t trim the excess plastic well enough leaving the trays digging into your gums which is very painful. They give you a tiny Emory board for smoothing, but doesn’t even come close to being enough to trim the excess. There are weekly trays and It’s the same with every tray. SDC is a SCAM! I finished treatment and had my original set of retainers sent to me. All was well. Then I received an email at 8:26pm at night, letting me know that new retainers were on the way! I never requested new retainers to be sent to me. Then I received an email the following morning at 8:06am stating that my retainers were being prepared and that my debit card had been charged, for a whooping $397.98!!
