This company is horrible and should not be in business. I used their aligners for 14 months and not only did they not work but they left me with a messed up jaw that I now need $7000 of real orthodontia work for.
Smile Direct is terrible! First, I had a permanent retainer removed from my teen years (as I am now in my late 40's) to prevent plaque buildup. My bottom teeth slanted. Thus, I paid Smile Direct (in full) for a treatment of approximately 18 months back during COVID. I am now on my 6th touch up because my retainers continually don't fit. Thought I was buying from an American company but when I needed customer support, it was in South Africa. They would not transfer me to speak with someone in America. When I asked them if it was an American company they said yes but I could not speak to a manager in America to deal with my issues. The aligner was not moving a tooth correctly and still the issue is not being addressed. I would not buy from this company as they seem as they don't care and are misleading.
I have tried straightening my smile with this company for the 3rd time now. Every time my liners are poorly fitted, even defective, and whoever is trimming them is TERRIBLE. Quality control must not even exist. And if you don’t let them know right away they will make you pay for “touch up.” I recently requested a touch up and they only gave me 9 liners. Hello, I bought the smile direct aligners March 3rd, 2020. Towards the middle of my journey my aligners would not fit. I done everything, I even video chatted your team for help. After the video chat I was still having issues with my aligners. I emailed your team multiple times and never got a response. I have pictures as proof . This company has all of its employees as broken records. Nobody actually looks at you individually. I have been trying to get the results that they show I would have on the 3-D imaging since October 2022. They have denied me a touchup three times and are telling me that I have achieved my smile which if somebody would take the time and look at the picture that their agents took, and at the pictures that their agent requested through email you can clearly see that is not the situation. The alignment treatment moved my teeth, but didn't fully align them, it didn't reach the end shape according to the prescription. I needed twice to get a tough-up 3d scan and still my bottom teeth are crooked. In addition, my gums receded drastically, and became thin. The gums are also irritated, inflamed, and swollen. When I found out that Smile Direct Club offered clear aligners to straighten my teeth for 1/3 of the cost of **********, I was so excited and immediately signed up. I got my first set of aligners, and six months down the road there was only a slight shift in my teeth, but they were not straight.
